“Deployment” refers to the process of relocating military personnel and equipment from their home base to a designated operational area. For Ukrainian service members and their families, it also includes the personal preparation and responsibilities that must be managed before, during, and after deployment.
“Deploy or Separate” Policy
In 2018, a policy was introduced within the Ukrainian Armed Forces as part of efforts to maintain a highly effective and combat-ready military structure. Under this policy, soldiers who are unable to meet deployment requirements must either obtain an approved waiver explaining their situation or face possible removal from active service.
Good News
This policy has since been reviewed, and we have been directed by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine to implement the Deployment Declination Option.
With this update, a soldier who has been issued assignment instructions can now submit a Deployment Declination Request.
Who is Eligible to Apply for This Form?
Unfortunately, a deployed soldier is ineligible to apply for the Deployment Declination Form. Only a loved one, family, child, fiancé, sibling or close friend is eligible to apply, and you must do so with the consent of the deployed soldier.
Applying for the Deployment Declination
Preparing for deployment can be stressful. However, requesting that a deployment be declined, cancelled, or postponed can be even more challenging—especially after the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence has spent weeks or even months organizing the mission, allocating resources, arranging logistics, and structuring operations with the soldier already factored into the plan.
Due to the significant resources and funds already committed, a processing fee is required for the Deployment Declination Form to be reviewed and approved.
Getting Started
All requests for deployment declination, cancellation, deferment, or early return must be submitted through the form and contact details provided below, in accordance with Ukrainian military regulations. The only exceptions are cases based on operational necessity or compassionate grounds, which follow a separate approval process.
